Drive 55 - Road Safety Information
A new road safety course aimed at reducing the number of drivers aged 55 plus being injured on Dorset roads was launched on 15th October in Poole.
'Drive 55 Plus' is a three-hour driver refresher course which addresses the most common causes of collisions on the region's roads.
The courses are being offered free of charge on selected dates around the county as part of a pilot scheme for a joint initiative between Borough of Poole, Bournemouth Borough Council and Dorset County Council.
The course provides information and advice on a range of driving issues including hazard perception and awareness, as well as driving at appropriate speeds.
People taking part can also use a vision-testing machine available at the courses. Group discussions at the course will cover new driving techniques, keeping fit to drive, motorways, roundabouts, and changes in the law and Highway Code.
Free practical driver refresher courses will also be available during the pilot scheme.
Sessions are being run at Upton House, Poole. Booking is essential.
To book a place please contact the Road Safety Team at Dorset County Council on 01305 224558 or email roadsafety@dorsetcc.gov.uk
