TravelWise®
TravelWise® is all about how and why we travel. The way we travel is affecting the environment and our health, because travelling in a car means more pollution and may lead to less exercise. TravelWise® tries to show people other ways of making journeys, including sharing cars with other people, walking, cycling and using buses and trains more often.
These ideas were built into the Local Transport Plan
which runs until 2011 which includes aims to control the rate of traffic growth. The scheme also supports the Council's Environmental Strategy and aims to encourage everyone in the community to think about ways in which we can change our attitudes to transport and create practical ways to face some of the difficult transport issues that we are challenged with today.
The National TravelWise® Association
The National TravelWise® Association (NTWA) website
is a one-stop shop for travel awareness. It provides up-to-date news on the latest travel awareness campaigns (UK and Europe), helpful advice for schools and businesses, free downloadable materials and access to a network of professional organisations working in the field.
