Purpose

The Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole Waste Local Plan, adopted 30th June 2006, has been jointly prepared by Bournemouth Borough Council, the Borough of Poole and Dorset County Council. The document provides a planning framework within which different types of waste facility can be developed and guided to areas and locations where they can be accommodated. It roles forward and reviews policies on waste that were originally set out in the Dorset Minerals and Waste Local Plan which was adopted in 1999.

Under transitional arrangements introduced by the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 and associated regulations, the policies contained in the Plan will be ‘saved’ for a period of three years. During this time the Plan will be monitored and reviewed and eventually replaced by new Waste Development Documents in line with the requirements of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004.
