Retail Monitoring Report
Purpose
The 2007 Retail Monitoring Report reviews the vitality, viability and attractiveness of Poole Town Centre and the smaller centres within the Borough, as a place in which to shop, do business, work, live and spend leisure time.
Since 2006 there has been a 5% decrease in the number of people visiting the Town Centre.
Poole Town Centre has seen a 1.7% decrease in the number of occupied retail units between 2002 and 2007.
The Food and Drink sector is the fastest growing sector in the Town Centre. Between the period of 2002 - 2007 there has been a 17.6% increase in this sector.
The most popular method of reaching the Town Centre is by private motor vehicles. The use of buses is a second favourite followed by walking.
