Implementing Electronic Government 2002 Statement
Purpose
e-Government is one of the key strands of the modernisation of government, both locally and nationally. It is about people, the services they want and how best to deliver them. It compliments Best Value, focusing on better government. It will require us to look at how we provide access to our services, our use of information and review our processes to ensure they make the best use of technology.
This Implementing Electronic Government (IEG) Statement is an annual statement required by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
The purpose of the Statement is to:
- set out the role we expect e-Government to play in improving services, meeting local and national objectives, and modernising our organisation
- report our progress on e-Government to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM)
- set out the Council's case for obtaining its share of additional national resources in 2003/4.
