Equality Impact Assessments
An Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) is a tool for assessing and consulting on the likely affect of the way the Council does its business for different groups of people. They help Councils identify the particular needs of different groups and aim to reduce the likelihood of discrimination. The Borough of Poole's approach is to undertake generic EQIAs to consider all equality issues, including:
- race
- gender
- disability
- age
- religious belief or faith
- sexual orientation
This reflects BoP's commitment to equality as a core value. Undertaking EQIAs contributes to the Council achieving the Equality Standard for Local Government ![]()
Each Service Unit has been asked to consider the likely impact of their key services from existing evidence
. Service Units have been asked to identify priority actions to take over the coming three years and where appropriate develop appropriate ways of measuring progress. These will then fed into each service units' annual business plan and inform our review of our Equality and Diversity Scheme.
