Equality Impact Assessments

An Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) is a tool for assessing and consulting on the likely affect of the way the Council does its business for different groups of people. They help Councils identify the particular needs of different groups and aim to reduce the likelihood of discrimination. We undertake EQIAs to consider all equality issues, including:

  • race
  • gender
  • disability
  • age
  • faith or belief
  • sexual orientation

Each Service Unit has been asked to consider the likely impact of their key services from existing evidence link will open in new window  (and /or link to the Equality Research Briefs). Service Units have been asked to identify priority actions to take over the coming three years and where appropriate develop appropriate ways of measuring progress. These then fed into each service units' annual business plan and inform our Fairness for All Scheme.
