4 Jun 09Carers Invited to Good Health Day
Carers are invited to come along to Good Health Day at Lighthouse, Poole's Centre for the Arts on Wednesday 10 June.
The event is being held as part of National Carers Week
, running from 8-14 June, which aims to address the needs of carers and offer them support and advice.
People are invited between 10am-4pm where there will be a range of exhibition stands and workshop sessions offering helpful information to help anyone who is caring for a person who is disabled or suffering from illness. There will be free goodie bags and hot drinks available to those who attend.
Poole and Bournemouth Social Services
and NHS Bournemouth and Poole
jointly sponsor the event. Cllr Elaine Atkinson, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Housing, Health and Wellbeing, Borough of Poole, said: "People can sometimes struggle to look after someone at home. They may not know about the support and financial benefits available to help them. This event is intended to encourage carers to seek the information and support that is locally available to them."
Good Heath Day will include exhibition stands, a lifestyles room, workshops, and information from a number of local organisations including Help the Aged
and Age Concern
. You can have your blood pressure checked in the lifestyles room and listen to a variety of talks in the workshops including St John's Ambulance
and Citizens Advice Bureau
