It is with immense sadness that Borough of Poole has learned of the death of Mr Denys Lavender, husband of the Mayor of Poole, Cllr Joyce Lavender.
Mr Lavender passed away on the morning of Friday 28 November at Poole Hospital, following a short illness.
Denys, aged 82, was a retired chartered accountant and avid supporter of Arsenal Football Club.
Cllr Joyce Lavender and husband Denys had been married 51 years and lived in Poole for over 40 years. They have one daughter, Cheryl, who will arrive later in the week from Australia where she now lives.
Cllr Ann Stribley, Conservative Group Leader, said: " We are very saddened to hear the news. Our thoughts are with her at this very difficult time."
Mr Lavender's funeral will take place at 11am on Tuesday 9 December at St John's Church, Ashley Road, Poole.
Revd Stephen Batty, rector of St Aldhelms Church, Branksome will officiate at the service which will last approximately half an hour.
Cllr Lavender has requested that those attending should not wear black and asked for family flowers only.
There will be a collection after the service for donations to Lewis Manning and Forest Holme Hospices. Donations can also be made at Tapper Funeral Service.
Refreshments will be served in the church after the service.
