22 Jul 08New Appointment Will Benefit Staff Development
A partnership arrangement between Borough of Poole and North Dorset District Council
has resulted in a new appointment to benefit workforce development and training for both authorities while realising savings at the same time.
The two councils have joined forces to appoint a Principal Workforce Development Officer on a temporary basis for a two-year period. Both councils felt there were similarities between their structures and recognition of the importance of a comprehensive training and development investment programme for their workforce in order to achieve organisational success.
Jane Jeffs, an experienced training consultant who has a wide range of training and development experience in both public and private sectors, has been appointed. She will be working three days a week across both councils working two and a half days a week at North Dorset and half a day at Poole.
Cllr Peter Webb, Leader of North Dorset District Council, said: "I thoroughly welcome Jane's appointment to this share position. It speaks volumes for both councils, one urban and one largely rural, that they have innovatively joined forces to mutual benefit with this appointment."
Cllr Brian Leverett, Leader of Borough of Poole, said: "I welcome this unique opportunity for our two councils to work in partnership to raise the standards for developing the skills and talents of our respective workforces and provide better value services for Council Tax payers."
This unique partnership opportunity represents good value for money and will improve the capacity and effectiveness of the councils' investment in their workforce's development and training ambitions to confidently co-ordinate change and improvement across both authorities.
The appointment will help both councils to attract and retain skilled employees to deliver quality services to their communities.
