Local residents and businesses stand to benefit from a long-term plan for sustainable economic growth of Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset.
Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset has been selected by the Department of Communities and Local Government (CLG) as one of seven pilot Multi-Area Agreements (MAA) in the country. The agreement was formally signed by Hazel Blears, with other Government ministers at a ceremony in London. Members of the South East Dorset MAA board, including the Leaders of Dorset County Council, Bournemouth Borough Council and Borough of Poole attended the ceremony.
The MAA is a formal agreement between local authorities, public sector partners in Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset and the Government to improve the economic performance in South East Dorset looking at the following key areas:
- Business growth
- Skills
- Transport and Connectivity
- Housing
- Environment
Gordon Page, Chairman of the Dorset MAA Board, said: "We are extremely pleased with the decision made by the Department of Communities and Local Government and this is evidence of how good partnership working will benefit and enhance the future economy for the Dorset region."
The partnership is managed through a Board of members including Local Authority leaders, the South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) and the higher education and skills sectors.
