Councillor Peter Adams, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, Borough of Poole, said: "Poole and Bournemouth is fortunate to have such great beaches which are really popular, especially at this time of year, and we want to ensure the promenade is a safe place for everyone. By having the same rules on dates and times, we hope to avoid any confusion for people cycling between Poole and Bournemouth during the peak summer months when the promenade is really busy."

Councillor Robert Lawton link will open in new window, Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, Bournemouth Borough Council, said: "This is yet another way that we are working with our neighbour. To have the same cycling restrictions simply makes sense and is an improvement on previous rules".

Signs along the promenade have been updated to remind people of the revised times for cycling. Both councils will be running spot checks along the promenade throughout July and August to ensure cyclists are co-operating with the new rules. Cyclists found riding on the promenade between 10am and 6pm could face prosecution.
