Rossmore Flyer Extends Its Wings

Passengers on the Rossmore Flyer BusResidents of Alderney West can now benefit from the popular Rossmore Flyer bus service, following an extension of the route by Borough of Poole.

The existing Route 8 Flyer from Alderney East to Ashley Road, via Ringwood Road, has been extended to provide an hourly direct service for Alderney West, linking passengers to the local banks, shops and facilities at Ashley Road.

The Flyer is supported by Borough of Poole and operated by Roadliner Passenger Transport, whose distinctive green bus is now a familiar sight on the roads of both Upper and Lower Parkstone.

The council has also improved bus stops along the route, whilst Roadliner provide an air-conditioned bus with luxury seating. Nearly 50,000 passengers were carried last year and numbers continue to grow.

Councillor Mike White, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Transportation, Borough of Poole, said: “We are delighted to build on the success of the Flyer, which is a great example of partnership working between the council and the bus operator. Feedback from residents has shown that this service is seen as a lifeline for many for access to their local shops and amenities.”

Mark Self, Managing Director, Roadliner Passenger Transport, said: “We know our growing numbers of passengers appreciate our traditional approach to bus operation - an emphasis on great service, comfort, reliability and a friendly driver too of course! We look forward to welcoming new customers on our extended route.”

Timetables are available from libraries in Poole.
