27 Nov 07Poole Celebrates Achievements Of Young People
Young people who are cared for by Borough of Poole have been awarded for their triumphs against the odds.
23 young people were presented with a certificate, personally inscribed shield and a voucher by Cllr Jeff Allen, Mayor of Poole, as part of the ‘Celebrating Success and Achievement’ awards ceremony held at the Harbour Heights Hotel.

Achievements included, completing college courses, settling into new foster homes and bravery through a difficult time or illness.
The ceremony is an annual event hosted by Borough of Poole, Children and Young People’s Social Care.
Short video clips of youth workers talking about the young people nominated were shown at the awards ceremony.
The event finished with afternoon tea giving visitors and guests the opportunity to talk to the young people about their achievements and interests.
Tony Woodcock, Portfolio Holder For Children’s Services, said: “It is fantastic for these children and young people to have their achievements and successes publicly recognised. They have worked hard and shown commitment, enthusiasm and determination in all they do.”
Steve Murray, Principal Manager, Children and Young People Social Care, said: “'Young people in care need to feel that their achievements are as important as other children's. An event like this shows them that they are worthy recipients of their awards, and that their efforts are recognised and appreciated.”
