A free course is available for carers in Poole who are looking after a friend or relative at home due to an illness or disability.
The ‘Caring And How To Survive It’ course, will take place on Thursday 1 November between 10.15am and 3.30pm in central Poole. The day will consist of talks from professionals on stress management, back care, simple cookery and the practical, financial and emotional support available to carers. There will also be an opportunity to meet others in a similar situation.
The course is a joint project between Borough of Poole’s Adult Social Services and local voluntary agency Help and Care
.
Val Mitchell, Carers Services Manager, Adult Social Services, Borough of Poole, said: “When you are caring for someone it can be hard to find out what help is available and carers often feel that they have to cope alone. It doesn’t matter if you are new to caring or have been caring for years, we are confident that the day holds something interesting and helpful for everyone.”
Early booking is advised for the course by contacting Val Mitchell on 01202 261174. Low cost help to look after the cared for person while the carer attends the event can be arranged when booking.
