5 Sep 07New Appointment For Town Centre Management Team
Poole’s Town Centre Management
team has appointed a new manager responsible for the Poole Against Retail Crime initiative
(PARC) and the Pubwatch
scheme.
Greg Buxton is based at the Town Centre Management Offices on the High Street, where a key part of his role is to encourage retailers, publicans and other town centre businesses to become members of the PARC initiative and Pubwatch scheme, to promote its benefits and to work closely with other colleagues to assist crime prevention.
Greg will also patrol the Town Centre and the Quay at busy periods to foster safer shopping and responsible outdoor drinking.
Retailers and licensed premises who subscribe to the PARC and Pubwatch schemes receive benefits such as, access to ‘Radiolink’ for the communication of suspicious, anti-social and potentially criminal activity. Regular meetings are also held where members share ‘intelligence’ on individuals who are subject to Exclusion Notices.
Both schemes aim to reduce and prevent crime in the Town Centre and Quay areas.
Dorset Police
has been a key partner in the PARC initiative since it began in July 2002 . Up until Greg’s appointment, a designated police officer, PC Paul Shorrocks, was managing the initiative. However, the new role was created due to expansion of the role and a change in responsibilities for PC Shorrocks.
Greg will still work closely with Dorset Police to ensure continuity of the excellent progress made in the first 5 years of the initiative.
Greg has lived in Poole for the last 25 years having settled here during his service with the Royal Marines. Greg has 15 years of experience in the private commercial sector.
Greg said: “My role is to help develop, guide and co-ordinate the PARC & Pubwatch schemes. This will allow the retailers and licensed premises to focus their time and energy on ensuring that the growing number of visiting shoppers and dinners in Poole, continue to enjoy a great experience in an attractive, positive and safe environment.”
