16 Aug 07Prosecution Against Fly Tipping
On 13 August 2007, Borough of Poole’s Environmental and Consumer Protection Services (E&CPS) successfully prosecuted a man for fly tipping.
Mr Gabriel Ferreira of Arne Avenue, Parkstone, Poole, pleaded guilty to one count of depositing household waste on land at the rear of Comet, Redlands, Poole on the 8 March 2007
Mr Ferreira attended Wimborne Magistrates' Court for the hearing. He received a 12 month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £350 of court costs.
Councillor Don Collier, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “We welcome the verdict as a clear indication that the offence of fly tipping is a serious one which costs councils throughout the country substantial amounts of money. E&CPS work extremely hard to keep Poole’s streets clean and the act of fly tipping is detrimental to this. It shows a lack of respect for the community and other residents who share them. We will always take appropriate enforcement action against fly tipping offences.”
