Poole’s most visited website has had an overhaul! Re-launched today, the council’s new-look website now offers internet users even better access to a wide range of council services and information.
Building on its reputation as one of the best local authority websites in the country, boroughofpoole.com has been redesigned to make it easier for people to do business with the council. From reporting an abandoned vehicle or applying for a school place to paying business rates or searching for a cycle route in the area – the site’s 1,500 pages of content have got something for everyone!
At the touch of a button or click of a mouse, users of the website will be able to access:
- a redesigned home page
, featuring clearly defined sections links and stunning new images of council services and Poole; - an A-Z and search tool on every page;
- a 'Your Poole'
facility allowing users to find all the council services in their postcode area; - a comprehensive ‘What’s On’ list of events in and around Poole.
Toby McConnell, e-Communications Manager, Borough of Poole, said: “The world of electronic media is evolving at a rapid pace and it is important the council keeps pace. Although we had a good website it needed to offer better accessibility and more options to 'do it online'. Our new site is easy to use, accessible and fabulous to look at. We hope you enjoy it!”
The site has been specially designed to make it more accessible to all sections of the community. Access tools allow information to be viewed in different sizes, colours, without graphics or the use of a mouse. Content can also be translated into nine other languages - Arabic
, French
, German
, Spanish
, Italian
, Portuguese
, Chinese
, Korean

Cllr Neil Sorton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Resources Areas, said: “With more than one million unique visitors expected to view the site this year, the Council is eager to offer a first-rate online service to residents, businesses and visitors to Poole. The new-look site aims to make it easier for people to find the information they are looking for in a quick and consistent way.”
For the first time, visitors to boroughofpoole.com will be able to submit their own images of Poole, using the ‘Your Pics’ page, allowing budding photographers to submit their images to a public gallery on the website. Other new features include RSS enabled news articles, allowing users to receive the latest council news delivered directly to their computers, plus easy print and email options.
