6 Jun 07Get Cycling Event Comes To Poole
To celebrate the approach of Bike Week 
, Borough of Poole has invited the ‘Company of Cyclists’ to bring their ‘Get Cycling’ Roadshow to Poole Park cycle track, next to the cricket pavilion, on Sunday June 16, from 10.30am to 4.30 pm.
They will be offering free rides on a variety of bikes, including recumbents, tandems, electric bikes, hybrids, folders and bikes with child trailers. There will be bikes for children to try out but all children under-16 must be accompanied by an adult.
The police will be carrying out bike security marking and a local cycle club will be running a static bike time trial. Local bike shops and clubs will also be present to offer advice and information.
The event is sponsored by Bryant Homes at Harbour Reach in Poole. Bryant will be present on the day and will be handing out fantastic cycle safety packs full of cycle goodies! Including a Poole cycle map full of different exciting routes to try, cycle safety information, reflective badges and armbands, don’t miss your chance to get your hands on one!
Cllr Mike White, Portfolio Holder for Transportation, said; “This event is a great opportunity for people to explore the variety of safe cycle routes available around the Borough. Cycling is an excellent form of transport for leisure purposes or for commuting to and from work.”
Cllr Don Collier, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Recreation, said; “This is an excellent event to have at our cycling track in Poole Park. Cycling is an extremely good form of exercise, which the Borough of Poole encourage as part of the commitment to promoting healthier lifestyles for Poole residents.”
Bryant Homes at Harbour Reach launches will be launching its own ‘On Yer Bike’ initiative next week in conjunction with Bike Week.
