19 Apr 07Exciting Opportunity For All Up And Coming Film Makers
The Borough of Poole’s Arts Development Service is supporting a networking party for local filmmakers to be held at the Study Gallery of Modern Art in Poole.
The ‘Prequel to Cannes’ party will be held on Thursday 26 April between 6pm and 9.30 pm and aims to provide networking and training opportunities for filmmakers, performers, screenwriters, crew, bands, dancers and anyone wanting to network on film projects or attend international film festivals and markets.

(SWS) and ‘The Writers’ Guild of Great Britain’
(WGGB) will be on hand to answer questions on funding, membership and how to gain accreditation and will be holding pre-booked consultations on the day.
Independent Producers, Directors and Production Companies will also be present on the night to discuss or commit to new projects.
The event is supported by a number of organisations, including; Borough of Poole’s Arts Development Unit, South West Screen (SWS) , Southbank Publishing
, The Writers' Guild of Great Britain (WGGB)
A ‘Wall of Words’ will be available for scriptwriters to pin up their treatments, pitches, log lines, synopses or first few pages of their script. In addition, performers, crew, musicians or any other film associates will be able pin up their pictures, CV's, past and present projects along with their preferences for future involvements.
Nickola Moore, Arts Development Manager, Culture and Community Services, Borough of Poole, said; “There are very few events like this held locally and anyone interested in the film industry should see this as an excellent way to progress their career. Borough of Poole recognise the value of such an event, which provides local filmmakers with big opportunities.”
Cathy Gremin from South West Screen, said; “This is a great event aimed at helping to support the independent film industry through networking opportunities by building working and social relationships across the film community in the hope that strong partnerships can be forged or collaborative initiatives are created”
Adam J. Merrifield, Producer, White Lantern Film
, said; “We are constantly looking to form new working relationships with Screenwriters and film talent; it would be an added bonus if we could find such talent on our doorstep through initiatives like Prequel to Cannes.”
