Leader of the Council, Cllr Brian Leverett, said: “We are looking forward to a time of great opportunity for Poole. With these opportunities come great challenges. By appointing two additional Cabinet members, we will be better able to address the important environmental and social issues facing Poole while delivering an ambitious £1 billion regeneration programme for the town and transforming our schools for the future.”

Cllr Brian Leverett and Cllr Ann Stribley were elected as Leader and Deputy Leader of Poole’s 42 Member Council at the Annual Council meeting on May 15.

A further six members were appointed to Cabinet at a meeting of the Council on May 24.

Following local elections on May 3, 2007, 42 Councillors were voted in across 16 wards. Poole now has 25 Conservative and 17 Liberal Democrats members.
