31 Jul 07Cut Your Council Tax - And Save Energy!
Home owners in Poole are being offered the chance to save money on their energy bills and cut their Council Tax at the same time.
Borough of Poole is offering a £75 rebate on this year’s Council Tax bill to people who agree to insulate their homes at a discount rate.
The offer is provided through a scheme run by Borough of Poole’s Housing & Community Services in partnership with British Gas.
The Council Tax Rebate Scheme is available to all home owners who pay Council Tax. Applicants do not have to be British Gas customers, and once the work is completed and paid for the rebate is credited to their Council Tax accounts.
Cllr Elaine Atkinson, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Well-being and Housing, Borough of Poole, said: “The council is committed to measures which will help tackle the important issue of climate change. Through this scheme we can encourage people to insulate their homes and save money on their Council Tax and fuel bills, while doing their bit for the environment.”
Simon Hendey, Head of Housing and Community Services, Borough of Poole, said: "There are also other energy efficiency schemes available for those who are vulnerable and in receipt of an Income Related Benefit. This means that there is something available for everyone who wants to reduce their fuel bills by insulating their homes."
Details of the scheme were sent out with this year’s Council Tax bills. For more information and details on how to apply please contact Erica Pretty on 01202 633428.
