22 Jul 04Extra buses for Summer Breeze on the Beach
Thursday nights at Sandbanks will benefit from additional bus services during August. It means the weekly Summer Breeze…On The Beach event featuring family entertainment including live music, beach barbecues and the fantastic firework finale at dusk, is now accessible by public transport.
Summer Breeze, sponsored by Breeze Volkswagen, takes place at Shore Road and further down at Sandbanks.
Both venues are accessible by the 152 bus service operated by the Wilts & Dorset Bus Company on behalf of the Borough of Poole. The service will depart Stand M at Poole Bus Station at 1940hrs arriving at Sandbanks Ferry at 2000hrs, calling at all bus stops along the line of route. The return journey will leave Sandbanks Ferry at 2230 arriving back in the Bus Station at approximately 2250.
A special “Firework Fare” of £1 per single trip will apply (50p for “Connect” card holders and accompanied children under 15). Unfortunately Wilts & Dorset Freedom, Rider and Five for a Fiver tickets will not be valid on this special service.
Councillor Ron Parker, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Local Economy, Borough of Poole, said “The last journey on the152 bus service was in the early evening which made it difficult for people without their own transport to get to the great summer evening entertainment at Sandbanks. The extra journeys during August will benefit bus users as well as residents and visitors not wishing to take their cars with them.”
