12 May 06Child Safety Week - prizes to be won
The Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) are asking children and young people, aged 8-15, to give their views on risk taking by filling in a short questionnaire
. They are keen to know why children take risks and whether there are any messages or motivating factors that would encourage them to think more carefully about the risks they take.
CAPT are offering three prizes of music vouchers worth £35 as an incentive for children's views and the answers will be used in the news story for this year's Child Safety Week
from 19-25 June 2006.
Questionnaires should be returned to CAPT by Wednesday 31 May 2006 and there is a address on the form to make it easy to return.
CAPT are also challenging parents and carers to test their knowledge of carbon monoxide poisoning in a quiz
with an opportunity to win one of 50 prizes of a free carbon monoxide alarm worth £20, thanks to the generosity of Ei Electronics, an official sponsor of Child Safety Week
2006.
The closing date for completed quiz entries is Friday 8 September 2006.
Parents can wise up to carbon monoxide and find out how to put safety first by reading about Stacey Rodgers' experience. Stacey is now campaigning for greater awareness of the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
If you work with children or young people, please distribute the risk questionnaire to them. If not, please give them to your own children or those of friends and neighbours.
