New Park and Share Scheme Arrives in Poole

The new staff minibus service for the Borough of Poole and Poole Hospital NHS Trust staff, labelled Park and Share, is up and running.

Formed in partnership between the Borough of Poole and the Hospital Trust, the scheme has been in operation since the 1 November on a trial basis. Since then, it has proved such a great success that both organisations have agreed to a protocol that ensures the development of the service. This will be signed by both parties on Friday at the Creekmoor Park & Ride site.

Councillor Ron Parker, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Local Economy, Borough of Poole, said: ''This is a great example of Poole's two largest employers working together for the benefit of their staff. This move will also reduce congestion coming into Poole to the advantage of the community as a whole.''

The Park and Share minibuses run from the Creekmoor Park and Ride site via the town centre to Poole Hospital from Monday to Friday and is available to members of staff of the Borough of Poole and Poole Hospital NHS Trust.

Derek Morgan, Director of Facilities for the Poole Hospital NHS Trust, said: ''This is a natural development of the Hospital's Travel Plan which offers our staff a variety of options to reach the Hospital. Unfortunately there is not enough car parking space around the Hospital for everyone to drive to work. Therefore, in order to provide adequate space for patients and visitors at Poole Hospital NHS Trust and to ensure staff have access to a parking space, this scheme will go a long way towards achieving this.''
