Poole Crematorium Opens Its Doors

Poole Crematorium is once again opening its doors to local residents on Friday 30 September from 10am to 12 noon.  This date has been chosen to coincide with the Macmillan Cancer Relief's World's Biggest Coffee Morning event and there will be a variety of refreshments on offer during the morning with all donations going direct to cancer charity.

Jayne Taylor, Business Manager, Leisure Services, Borough of Poole said: "Our previous open days have always been very well attended and we are always delighted to show people around our bright and modern facilities. We are doubly pleased that this year we can do so whilst also taking part in the Macmillan's Coffee Morning fundraiser."

Cllr Don Collier, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Borough of Poole, said:  "Many people still have concerns about cremation and the open morning will give them an opportunity to talk with our knowledgeable and approachable bereavement team about any aspect of our service."

Poole Crematorium, owned and run by the Borough of Poole, was opened in November 1985. It is situated on the outskirts of Poole on the A349 Poole to Wimborne Road and on the edge of Canford Heath.

The grounds surrounding the crematorium have been left as a natural woodland setting to fit in with the local habitat which is predominantly SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) heathland on the edge of Canford Heath.

There will be ample parking available and staff will be on hand to direct visitors.  If anyone would like further information please contact the crematorium staff on 01202 602582
