The Dorset Safety Camera Partnership (DSCP) has announced that two new fixed safety camera sites have gone live in Poole. The new fixed safety camera sites are at: Pat Garrett, Head of Fixed Penalties, Dorset Safety Camera Partnership, comments: "The Dorset Safety Camera Partnership is striving to reduce the number of people who are killed or seriously injured on Dorset’s roads as a consequence of both excessive and inappropriate speed. Introducing additional safety camera sites is just one of the methods being used by the Partnership to make Dorset’s roads safer. "These two latest safety cameras have been positioned to ensure that motorists reduce their speed which, as our data shows, subsequently aids in reducing casualties on our roads. Safety cameras are there to protect all road users and to constantly remind motorists to keep their speed down and drive within legal speed limits." The DSCP would like to remind people that as winter approaches, we all need to think carefully about appropriate speed in relation to driving conditions. Speed limits are not a target for motorists – it’s important to remember you can be driving at an inappropriate speed for the conditions even if you are under the speed limit set for the road. The new safety camera sites have been installed in line with Government guidelines. This means that there have been four or more people killed or seriously injured (KSIs) or eight or more personal injury collisions (PICs) on the roads where the fixed camera sites have been placed.
