Faithworks is Launched in Poole

This Sunday marks the launch of ‘Faithworks’ Poole, a new organisation that will seek to assist the development of the role of different faith communities throughout Poole.\n

‘Faithworks’, was inspired by the work of ‘Routes to Roots’ a homeless charity in Poole through which over 150 members of faith community’s work together in supporting the homeless. ‘Faithworks’ will also offer a bereavement service for isolated people, helping the homeless find employment, housing and healthcare and a groundbreaking project that will support the spiritual needs of looked after children.

Jonathan Martin, Chair of ‘Faithworks’, Poole, said: "Faithworks has already received initial funding to develop these projects which is an exciting and encouraging start. Faith communities also have a big role to play and I’m delighted this example is being set here in Poole."

Councillor Ms Elaine Atkinson, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said: "This is a brilliant way to demonstrate how faith communities across Poole are able to contribute to the development of a strong, vibrant, caring community. This is a prime example of the partnership approach that we are developing successfully here in Poole and the Council is supporting this by devoting staff time and resources to the scheme."

Faithworks will be based at Parkstone United Reform Church and will also be seeking to appoint staff to other venues throughout Poole to make the service accessible throughout the region.

‘Faithworks’, Poole, is seeking charitable company status and presently has funding from the Borough of Poole’s Drug Action Team; Routes to Roots; isolated older peoples group; Help The Aged, British Gas and United Reform Church Wessex region.
