The Mayor of Poole, Councillor Mrs Judy Butt and 12 riders from the Borough of Poole's Bicycle User Group are doing something completely different to raise funds for the Mayor of Poole's charities.
On Thursday 6th July Councillor Mrs Judy Butt and her team will attempt to ride Stage 5 of this year's Tour de France
, a 225 kilometre stage from Beauvais, north of Paris, to Caen. The cycle ride coincides with the main event and the cyclists aim to arrive at their destination before the race competitors cross the finishing line.

The Bicycle User Group is made up of council officers who regularly commute to and from work and are being accompanied by the Mayor as the Member representative. They hope to raise £3,000 for the Mayor's three main charities which are the Poole branch of Citizen's Advice Bureau, Poole Forum and Poole Help & Care.
Councillor Mrs Judy Butt said: "This is a great and novel way to raise funds for three very worthwhile charities and keep fit and healthy at the same time. I have been loaned a fabulous bicycle, sadly engine less but I am determined to keep up with the 'pack'. We know people will be generous with their support."
Cannondale are loaning a state of the art £3,500 Synapse Carbon Fibre Bike & Ride for The Mayor to ride and Ride Cycleworks
from Poole are providing the support and backup for the team.
