Residents to play a part in shaping the future of Poole

Poole residents are being invited to play an important role, helping to shape how the Council makes decisions on local services and issues facing the town, as the Poole Opinion Panel recruits new members.

The Council is looking for 1,600 people of all ages and from all areas of Poole to join the Panel so that it represents a cross section of the local community.

Panel members take part in up to 3  surveys a year, with questions ranging from refuse collection to leisure facilities, highway maintenance to community safety and the Town Centre. All questions are about really important and timely issues and the Council takes account of the views of the Panel before it makes decisions.

Cllr Ann Stribley, Deputy Leader of the Council, said: "Poole Opinion Panel is just one way the Council listens to the views of local residents. If you receive an Poole Opinion Panel application form, it means that your views would help to shape the services the Council provides, so please help us to help Poole and take your opportunity to get involved."

Survey results are shared with Panel members via ‘Feedback’ – the Poole Opinion Panel newsletter – and are also featured in Poole News, in the local press and on the Council’s website boroughofpoole.com/opinions.

Notes:

  • Unfortunately, to ensure that the Panel remains as representative as possible, we cannot accept requests to join the Panel.

  • Application forms are being sent to residents selected at random.

  • To ensure the views of the Panel remain truly representative, it will be refreshed regularly.

  • Panel members will be invited to take part for a maximum of 3 years.
