Where Can I Find? Goes Live

Ever wondered where you can locate public libraries, car parks, bus routes, schools and recreational land?  Would you like to know which School Catchment Area your  property is in? Or maybe you need to know if the trees around your property are protected by a Tree Preservation Order? Then 'Where Can I Find?', a new feature on the Council's website www.boroughofpoole.com, can help.

The Geographical Information System Teams, part of the Borough of Poole's Strategic Planning Services, have been working with the Council's web development team to display maps and information about the local area online.

Browsers will be able to search all addresses within Poole, view Ordnance Survey Mapping and find out what facilities are in their neighbourhood or town.

Information available includes:

  • Leisure - public car parks, play areas, public conveniences, leisure centres, sports pitches, parks & public gardens, libraries and youth clubs \n
  • Transport in Poole - main roads, railways, stations, bus routes and footpaths. \n
  • Schools - find out which school catchment area a property falls into and view all the schools in Poole. \n
  • Recycling & refuse - find out which refuse or recycling route a property is situated on and what day the collection is made.
  • Councillors - find out which ward a property falls into and who the Councillors are.
  • Council Tax - find out the Council Tax band of a property. \n
  • Planning - find out what Planning & Development is happening.
  • Tree Preservation Orders - check whether trees on or near a property have a Tree Preservation Order protecting them.

Cllr Neil Sorton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Resources, Borough of Poole, said: "We believe adding Where Can I Find? to Boroughofpoole.com will be of huge benefit to many people, whether they are local or looking to visit or move to the town. A wide range of up to date useful information is available displayed over Ordnance Survey maps and is just a quick click away."

To mark the launch, a competition is being staged. Simply answer 3 questions in our Virtual Treasure Hunt on the Where Can I Find? site to be in with a chance of winning a specially designed Surf, Rest + Play Animal backpack.
