29 Sep 03Poole's Achievement Awards
It’s that time of year when the people and businesses that make a difference in the community are acknowledged with the 2003 Poole Achievement Awards. Every year the Borough of Poole give local individuals and organisations the chance to stand up and be given recognition for their dedication and caring. This year the Council seeks to recognise and show appreciation to those who have given service to the community. In particular, nominations are most welcome for achievements made by young people or those that have studied for a career for the benefit of the Borough. Anyone can be nominated for an award so long as they live or work in the Borough and any organisation can be put forward if they are located within Poole. The Mayor of Poole, Councillor Ray Smith, said: "Poole Achievement Awards are a fantastic opportunity for the Borough of Poole to come together as a community and celebrate the efforts of those who work extremely hard for the benefit of others. Whether it is community service, young carers, commerce, entertainment or any other field their dedication makes Poole a better place to live, work and play. If you know someone who deserves a special thank you for their work and efforts in the community get yourself an application form and give them a special day." The closing date for applications is 31 October 2003. Award Winners will be presented with a special Poole Pottery plate in appreciation of their service to the Borough in a ceremony on 30 January 2003.
