The Borough of Poole has been awarded £390,000 by the Government towards the development of its innovative Customers First project.
The initiative, which will take 18 months to develop and roll out, will radically overhaul how the Council liaises with its customers. More efficient and effective handling of inquiries is a key part of the plan.
Councillor Roger Gregory, member of the Customers First Board, Borough of Poole, said: “The aim of this proposal is to accelerate the council’s development and introduce a new customer access and service strategy. Both the council and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister want Poole to be a national exemplar of good practice. Doing this is a huge challenge but now we have the resources to support it.”
Customers First is one of five large planned projects in the council’s Corporate Strategy.
Councillor Neil Sorton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Resources, Borough of Poole, said: “This is excellent news that Poole has been successful in bidding for this funding deal from the ODPM. However the real work starts now bringing about this fundamental change in the way we carry out our business with our customers and I look forward to residents and businesses reaping the benefits in 18 months time.”
The funding will enable the council to set up a project plan and to commission work that will bring about the implementation of this strategy.
