4 Jan 05Three Minute Silence for Victims of the Tsunami Disaster
Staff and Councillors at the Borough of Poole will observe the three-minute silence being held nationally on January 5 in memory of the victims of the Asian Tsunami Disaster.
Mayor of Poole Councillor Les Burden together with Mayor's Chaplain Rev Bob Mason will lead the three minute silence and prayers from the balcony of the Civic Centre at 12 noon.
In addition the flag on the top of the Civic Centre will be lowered to half mast.
Cllr Burden said: "This horrific and shocking tragedy which has killed thousands of people, including up to 200 Britons, and left millions more in desperate need has touched the hearts of everyone globally. Members of the public are welcome to join me in making this simple humanitarian gesture to remember all those involved."
