Mountbatten Arms Junction Works switch to Night-Time Working

The Mountbatten Arms junction of Wallisdown Road and Ringwood Road in Poole has been undergoing improvement works since April this year.

The works involve new traffic signals, new pedestrian crossings, improved footways and cycleways, local widening of carriageways and essential highway maintenance work. The works are progressing well and it is anticipated that these will be largely completed by the end of June as planned.

Most of the work to date has been undertaken during off peak times during the day to minimise the effects on traffic using the junction. However, the next phase of the work involves extensive resurfacing of the junction, together with associated road markings, traffic signal loops and specialist finishes.

These operations will significantly affect available road widths and will inevitably be disruptive to traffic using the junction. For this phase of the work therefore, the emphasis will be on night working with only limited daytime activity.

For a period of two weeks beginning Monday 14 June, work will commence at approximately 7pm daily (Monday to Friday) and continue into the following early morning. Local residents will be advised of the arrangements and road users at these times should expect some possible disruption to their journeys.

Cllr Ron Parker, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Local Economy including transportation, said: "We hope that the public appreciate the efforts that have been made to minimise the disruption to the public so far and hope that they will bear with us during this final phase of the works. On completion of the scheme, all road users (including motorists, cyclists and pedestrians) should benefit from a safer and more efficient junction especially at peak times."
