New Staff Appointments at Poole Council

A number of new managerial appointments have been made at the Borough of Poole.

Head of Environmental and Consumer Protection Peter Pawlowski becomes Policy Director replacing Fred Davies who retired at the end of last year. Peter joined Poole in 1997 when the authority took over waste disposal and trading standards as part of its new unitary status. As service head he has overseen the introduction of the Blue Wheelie Bin recycling scheme, a successful Health and Safety prosecution of B&Q and implemented the Pride in Poole campaign to clean up the Borough’s streets and open spaces. He has previously worked for councils in Sandwell, West Midlands and Shropshire.

He said: "I’m excited by the challenge offered by the new role, particularly that of supporting the council's business efficiency and making further strides in improving the environmental and economic well being of the community."

Katie Lacey has been appointed Head of ICT and Business Support after a year working as the Acting Head of unit. During this time she has worked on developing a new IT development framework, robust budget and investment plan and made a number of service improvements. The 34-year-old has worked at Poole since 1997 and was previously employed by Winchester City Council.

Katie said: "I am absolutely delighted to be taking up this role at such an exciting time for Poole working on several major projects. I am looking forward to working with Councillors, Service Units and colleagues to ensure ICT plays an active part towards the shaping and delivery of quality services across the Borough."

In addition Tim Martin was recently appointed as Head of the newly combined Legal and Democratic services. The 42-year-old joins Poole from Bournemouth Borough Council link will open in new windowwhere he had been Head of Law and Administration. Previously he worked as a solicitor in private practice and for councils in Gateshead and West Oxfordshire.

Tim said: "I am looking forward to bringing Legal and Democratic Services together as one unit. This represents a logical development for the authority and building upon the strengths of both teams I feel sure we can provide an even better service in the future."
