Poole Park Family Ice Rink Opening

The Mayor of Poole, Cllr Mrs Judy Butt opened the refurbished Café and new indoor ice skating rink at Poole Park on the 28 February.

Cygnet Continental Café Bar was closed in November 2006 for a complete refurbishment and new extension to accommodate the ice rink.

The new facilities, which also accommodates Gus Gorilla's Jungle Playground , will be known as 'Central Park'.

Bob Lister, Friends of Poole Park, said "This new phase of Poole Park's improvement and is very exciting. It is another attraction for young people and their families to enjoy in the beautiful surroundings of Poole Park."

Clive Smith, Head of Leisure Services, said: "This is a great asset for leisure in Poole, providing all year round attractions for families. Leisure Services are delighted to work in partnership with Adrian Forte and his business partner, Fidel Jabir to deliver improvements for local people and visitors to Poole."

Tony Woodcock, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Children's Services, said: "The Borough of Poole recognises the importance of engaging young people with activities that are healthy and fun for all the family. Poole Park is under a period of transformation and this is another welcome addition."

Mayor of Poole, Cllr Mrs Judy Butt, said: "Despite my recent foray on to the ice resulting in my broken leg, I very much enjoyed opening this thrilling and exhilarating new project.
This event really heralds the re-invigoration of our lovely park and is the start of many other exciting ventures planned for this wonderful facility."

The ice rink and café will be open to the public from 1 March 2007. It will be open seven days a week 10am to 6pm. The cost for skating is £4 for under 12's and £5 for adults for a 45 minute session (skate hire included).
