Creative Elements Comes to Light in Exhibition

The Borough of Poole’s Arts Development Unit has been working alongside five of Poole’s Day Centres to produce 16 fantastic banners based on the theme of ‘The Elements’.

The aim of the 12 week project was to develop and enhance the creative skills of everyone taking part and encourage participation in community arts projects.

The work that has been produced will be celebrated in an exhibition, to be opened by Cllr Elaine Atkinson on the 25 May at Longfleet United Reformed Church and will run until 3 June. The exhibition will display all of the banners, poetry that was created in a workshop with local poet Paula Brown and a ‘Soundscape’, which is a recording of the project composed by local sound artist, Adrian Newton.

Cllr Elaine Atkinson, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Community Support, Borough of Poole, said: "The project has enabled everyone to be involved in some way, no matter how small or large their contribution. The exhibition is a celebration of their achievement and offers people the opportunity to come along and see the results. Each one is colourful and expressive and absolutely unique."

The exhibition has been made possible by links created between the Arts Development Unit and ‘Faithworks’ Poole, and offers a creative alternative to exhibition spaces within Poole. If you would like to see what has been achieved, the work will be on show every day from 11am - 2pm.
