Poole Opinions for 2004

A cross section of residents are being asked to give their opinion and help shape Council services as the first 2004 Poole Opinion Panel hits the mats of 1,600 residents in Poole this week.

Members of the panel will be asked to consider the hot topics of the moment, including whether the Council should ban smoking in enclosed public spaces; whether the fear of crime is considered a big issue for people in Poole; and how the Council could reduce congestion in the area?

The survey also asks about our residents’ experiences of contacting the Council, which will help us to deliver a new Customer First Strategy.

Councillor Neil Sorton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Resources, said: "We take great pride in these surveys and the direct link that it gives to the residents in Poole. Their opinion is invaluable and necessary to ensure that the Council is providing the best possible services."

Heather Russ, Marketing Officer (Consultation) Borough of Poole, said: "The survey will give an accurate reflection of what Poole people think about Council services and will help us to monitor them, highlighting where changes need to be made. We really appreciate the time given to us by panel members. Without their input we would be unable to gain a fair and accurate insight into the best way to make a difference in what we can bring to the people of Poole."

The survey results will be available in the Summer and will be posted on boroughofpoole.com/opinions.

Notes:

The Panel members were chosen at random in order to represent a cross section of the community by age and area.

There are 2 – 3 surveys year and panel members can also attend discussion groups on particular issues.
