14 Dec 04Poole Welcomes New Play Area
A brand new play area has been recently opened at Winston Avenue in Branksome. Funded by contributions from developers including Wimpey Homes, a small site has been transformed into an attractive community park with a vibrant play area for young children. As part of the design process, pupils at St. Aldhelms school were asked to produce artwork to be used on signage on the site. The pupils whose artwork was chosen to appear at the site were awarded certificates and prizes by the Mayor of Poole Cllr Les Burden, at the formal opening of the play area. Cllr Don Collier, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Borough of Poole, said: "The park is a great asset to an area where open space is scarce and it is wonderful to see such a quality facility provided for the area at no cost to the Borough. The children’s artwork adds the final touches to something the local community can be rightly very proud of."
