Free Collection for Disposal of End of Life Vehicles

The Borough of Poole, working with Charles Trent Limited, is pleased to announce a valuable new service for residents of vehicles that have come to the end of their life.

Vehicles that are no longer roadworthy, can now be removed free of charge, from their property. If the vehicle can still be driven, then it can be delivered to Charles Trent, Ringwood Road link will open in new window, for free disposal, as long as there is proof of ownership.

This initiative has been instigated in response to the growing number of vehicles that are being abandoned within the Borough. Such dumping of vehicles has become common practice since vehicle dismantlers introduced charges for disposal.

Councillor Jonathan Pethen, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Borough of Poole, said: "We very much welcome this initiative in tandem with one of our private sector partners. Abandoned vehicles not only spoil the amenity of local areas by being an eyesore, they can also be dangerous, attracting vandalism or even worse, arson attacks. The removal of charges for vehicle disposal with free collection, offer residents an affordable and unique opportunity to contribute to caring for the environment and taking a pride in the borough."

Chas Ambrose, Environmental Manager, Charles Trent Limited, said: "We welcome this opportunity to work with our colleagues at the Borough of Poole in combating the antisocial activity of vehicle abandonment. The recent recovery in metal prices now means that scrap vehicles can be collected and disposed off, to all the new environmental standards, without any charge to the last owner. So there is no excuse for abandonment and no excuse for the job not to be done properly."

Residents who have a vehicle to dispose of can contact Charles Trent Limited direct on their freephone 0800 169 7918 to make disposal arrangements if proof of ownership is provided.
