Poole House Receives Built In Quality Award

Three buildings in Poole were recognised as some of the best in the construction industry in Devon, Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset at last month's South West Region Local Authority Building Control's (LABC) link will open in new window 'Built in Quality' Awards.

One of the buildings nominated by the Borough of Poole won the award for the Best Single New House fighting off stiff competition from Teignbridge District Council link will open in new window, East Devon District Council link will open in new windowand Torbay Borough Council link will open in new window.

The winning property in Branksea Avenue was bought and developed by the owners, Mr & Mrs Gorvin and was recognised for its unique design, good building control and high standard of finish.

Together with the other nine category winners, the property will now be nominated at the national LABC link will open in new window 'Built In Quality' Awards which will be held in London on Thursday 19 October 2006.

Local developers also received two commendations. Thunderbird House in Branksome Park which was built by Seven Developments received a commendation in the 'Best Single New House' category and the Single Living Accommodation Modernisation at Hamworthy Marine Camp which was built by Debut Services Limited was commended in the 'Best Commercial New Build' category.

Councillor Brian Leverett, Leader of the Council said: "We are delighted at this success at these recent awards which reflects both the high standard of design and building control and our positive partnership working with contractors and architects. We look forward to repeating this success at the national awards".

Alan Muzzall, Head of Building Consultancy said: "The Building Consultancy Team works hard to ensure that our buildings and structures are safe and accessible as well as pleasing to the eye and it is hugely gratifying to know that an example of this work has been recognised as a benchmark for the region".
