Small Island Prize

Hamworthy Library was the venue for an informal prize-giving ceremony on 27th March when the prize for the Small Island Quiz was presented to Mrs. V. Hancock. In her winning entry, Mrs Hancock successfully answered questions on Andrea Levy’s book Small Island and on the topics of slavery and immigration. After the ceremony, she commented on how much she had enjoyed the book and been intrigued by the ideas raised in it.

The quiz prize-giving marks the end of a very successful mass reading project when people across the area have been encouraged to read Small Island. Over 300 copies of the book have been given away throughout Poole, many people have borrowed copies from the library and 15 reading groups have discussed it.
