Family History Week 15th - 20th January 2007

To liven up the dreary days of January, Borough of Poole libraries are running a family history week with displays, surgeries and workshops.

There will be something for everyone, from beginners to more experienced researchers. So why not come along to have a browse or sign up for one of the workshops.
 
Events at Poole Central Library:
 
Monday 15 January – Friday 19 January, 10.00 am – 3.00 pm 
Display and advice from the Dorset Family History Society
 
Tuesday 16 January, 10.00 am – 12.30am
Workshop - Organising your family history *

Tuesday 16 January, 1.30 pm – 4.00 pm
Workshop - Writing up your family history *
  
Saturday 20th January, 10.30am – 12.30 pm   
Workshop – Family history for starters *

Saturday 20th January, 10.00 am – 2.30pm
Free drop-in family history surgery with the Somerset and Dorset Family History Society
 
 * Please book your place for the workshops at Central Library Enquiry desk or ring 01202 262421. All workshops have a charge of £2 per person.
 
Events at Broadstone Library:
 
Tuesday 16th and Thursday 18th Jan, 10.00am - 2.30pm
Free drop-in family history surgeries with the Somerset and Dorset Family History Society
   
Cllr Elaine Atkinson, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Community Support, said: “Researching family history is a fun and exciting way for people to find out about their heritage. I am sure many people would like to attempt this but don’t know where to start. These workshops are an ideal opportunity to get some advice and guidance.”
