13 Oct 06Outstanding Ofsted Report - Baden Powell and St Peter's
‘An outstanding school’ seems the most fitting description for Baden-Powell & St Peter’s CE Middle School in Poole, following its recent OFSTED inspection. Judged in every one of the seven new OFSTED categories as ’outstanding’, the school’s remarkable report has been received with joy and with a positive look ahead to the coming year.
Geoff Pike, Headteacher, said: “I am absolutely thrilled with the report and delighted that the Inspectors recognised the excellent attitudes of the children and the outstanding approach to teamwork that exists amongst the staff. It is a great pleasure to work with such wonderful children, such skilled staff and with such supportive parents and Governors.”
He added: “We will now begin our drive for further improvements starting with two suggestions of the inspectors: to continue the development of increased provision in opportunities for the pupils to use ICT in all curriculum areas, and to ensure that all children are sufficiently challenged in mathematics. These two areas of development were already on our School Improvement Plan.”
Some highlights from the report include:
“This is a school where pupils want to learn and where teachers want to teach. As a result, teaching and learning are outstanding”; “Behaviour is exemplary” and “Pupils are very polite and very mature” are comments from the report describing the attitude of the children and staff in this large Poole Middle School.
The children are considered to be “extremely well prepared both academically and socially for their future lives” is a further statement made by the inspectors.
“This is an outstandingly well led and managed school. In the three years since his appointment, the Headteacher has created an exceedingly strong leadership team in the school”
Baden-Powell and St Peter’s CE Middle School serves the area of Lower Parkstone, Lilliput and Sandbanks and currently has 612 children on role. The report will be published on the Ofsted website within the next two weeks and will then be available on www.ofsted.gov.uk ![]()
