Opening of the Packe Family Mausoleum

The Packe Family Mausoleum will be welcoming the public through its doors for the second time this year on Thursday 17 June.

The Mausoleum, built in 1867, is the last remaining evidence that the Packe family owned most of what is now Branksome Park in the mid 19th century.

Richard Knott, Conservation Officer, Borough of Poole, said: "This small, stone chapel-like building was hidden behind trees and dense vegetation until 1993 when the Borough of Poole took over the building and restored it to its current condition. The opening will take place over lunchtime, there is no need to book, simply come along and have a look at either 12.00 noon, 12.45pm or 1.30pm."

There will also be another opportunity to visit the Mausoleum during September this year.

The Packe Mausoleum stands at the top of the road to Branksome Dene Chine car park, just to the rear of 25 Pinewood Road.
