28 Jul 03Poole Town Centre's Summer on the Street
Its happening now...on the High Street in Poole! Arts Markets, Farmers Markets, live music, roving jesters, face painters, pottery and fitness demos! All through the summer, the Arts Market will be exhibiting works by local artists in the Lower High Street on Wednesdays, and, by popular demand, the specialist Farmers Market returns in the Sainsburys' Piazza on Thursdays 9am to 1pm. Savour the smells of free range and organic produce. Stay on in the afternoons to experience Poole street vibe with street entertainment for all the family. Roger Boyce, Chairman of Poole Town Centre Management Board, says "We have so much to offer shoppers in Poole with the vast variety of specialist shops in the Old Town, our High Street shops and also the county's largest shopping centre, the Dolphin Shopping Centre. Our restaurants, cafes and bars are first class too. Our programme of events will make shopping in Poole much more fun all through summer". "We are encouraging retailers to stay open until 7pm throughout 'summer on the street', which has been well supported by many retailers as there is no late night shopping here in Poole. We hope that people will have a leisurely shopping experience before enjoying the regular Thursday night party evenings in Poole at either Oysters on the The Quay or Sands on The Beach with live entertaiment and fireworks" said Helen Crawford, Poole Town Centre Manager.
