2 Jul 03Opening of the Packe Family Mausoleum
The Packe Family Mausoleum will be welcoming the public through its doors once again on Thursday 3 July. Doors will open at 1pm, 1.45pm and 2.30pm.
The Mausoleum, built in 1867, is the last remaining evidence that the Packe family owned most of what is now Branksome Park in the mid 19th century.
Richard Knott, Planning Design & Conservation Services, Borough of Poole, said: "This small, stone chapel-like building was hidden behind trees and dense vegetation until 1993 when the Borough of Poole took over the building and restored it to its current condition. Anyone is welcome to come along and have a look and there's no need to book."
There will also be other opportunities to visit the Mausoleum during dates in September this year.
The Packe Mausoleum stands at the top of the road to Branksome Dene Chine car park, just to the rear of 25 Pinewood Road.
