On Friday 21 April at Bournemouth Magistrates Court
, the Borough of Poole’s Environmental and Consumer Protection Service successfully prosecuted several people for littering and one person for abandoning a vehicle.
The offences were committed between August and October last year at locations across the borough.
Three people pleaded guilty to littering from a vehicle. All received fines of between £60 and £150 plus costs. A fourth person was found guilty of abandoning a vehicle and fined £150 plus costs.
Councillor Don Collier, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Borough of Poole said: “Keeping Poole “Clean, Green & Safe” is a top priority and we will continue to take a zero tolerance policy on those people who commit enviro-crimes. Successful prosecutions such as this together with the introduction of Fixed Penalty Notices will help us continue our tough stance and help keep our town looking and feeling like a place people are proud to be in”.
Lucy Magill, Regulatory Services Manager, Environmental and Consumer Protection Services said: “Since the 6th April 2006 we have been using Fixed Penalty Notices where appropriate to deal with some enviro-crimes. We will however, continue to prosecute where appropriate and we will look to prosecute those people who do not pay their fixed penalty notice. “
