'Dolphin' rides in on a high tide at Holes Bay North Roundabout

Motorists heading out of Poole on the Holes Bay Road may be surprised to see a fishing boat has come to rest on a roundabout.

The arrival of this full size fishing boat, complete with gantry and fishing nets, now completes the nautical theme that runs along Holes Bay Road. The theme begins with beautiful floral displays in the Poole Canoe on the Hunger Hill roundabout and ends with the colourful buoys and anchors on the Holes Bay Roundabout.

Colin Grundy, Business Development Officer, Leisure Services, said: "Poole is fast gaining a reputation for its innovative and quality roundabout designs.  The fishing boat, which has been named "Dolphin", is anchored amongst imaginative landscaping of pampas grasses and agapanthas and will set the standard for future developments."

Councillor Don Collier, Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Borough of Poole, said: "This exciting development on a major trunk road creates a landmark that will raise the profile and image of Poole by recognising and celebrating our maritime past."
