Making a Difference to Our Environment

The Borough of Poole, along with a number of other organisations have joined forces to create The Poole Nature Conservation Strategy.

The Strategy begins by looking at Poole’s wildlife and emphasises the role of the partner organisations and the role of individuals, businesses and community groups in conserving and protecting nature.

The aim of the Strategy is to ensure that everyone involved works together to maintain and enhance the distribution and range of Poole’s nature conservation resources on a sustainable basis. It also focuses on urban areas as opposed to those areas which are already heavily protected by environmental legislation. These areas can be an important habitat for many plants and animals and for or many people, it is where they come into contact with nature on a daily basis.

Cllr Don Collier, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Borough of Poole, said: "The Poole Nature Conservation Strategy has been prepared in genuine partnership and will help to further the Council’s stated priority of Clean, Green and Safe. I am sure this will make a great impact on Poole’s environment and believe that we are already beginning to see positive results."

The Poole Nature Conservation Strategy report will shortly be published on the Poole Partnership website. link will open in new window
